No...I'm not pregnant! :) Kierstin's had a fever for several days so I took her to the doctor today to see why her fever wouldn't go away. He listened to her symptoms and gave a preliminary diagnosis. He then proceeded to check in all the places that doctors usually check. He looked in her ears and then said something about there being a green pea in there and left the room. It didn't really register what he said until he came back with some little tools. She had something stuck in her ear canal. He had me hold his little light thing so he could carefully dig in there. I looked in there and sure enough...there was something in there. However, it was the wrong shade to be a pea. Trust me, I have 5 billion stored up from my time on WIC. :) I suggested that it was a BB from an AirSoft BB gun. The doctor tried to get the stupid thing out, Kierstin crying every time he tried. He finally had to get one of the other doctors to come and help him. The other doctor brought some other little tools and just went at it while our doctor helped hold her. Kierstin screamed but they got it out. Mom was right...a BB. I think Kierstin's ordeal traumatized the doctor more than it did Kierstin. :) The poor man apologized to me about 10 times, gave Kierstin 2 stickers and a book, then apologized 4 more times. :) He is an excellent pediatrician and has such a tender heart. I was fine, I knew it had to come out and that they weren't seriously hurting her. She just didn't like it and it was uncomfortable. :)
The good news is that she's fine and will be able to be at school again tomorrow with no issues. She's not even acting sick anymore. :) The BB and her fever aren't related...just convenient. :) I took her out to lunch and signed her up for some fun Girl Scout activities. She's been compensated for her trauma and now knows not to put anything in her ears (and don't let her brothers either). :)
